Benway School. New Jersey’s Special Education School introduces an additional component to our special education program by creating a positive future for learners with Autism
Are you looking for an innovative program for learners in your district struggling with a diagnosis of autism?
The Benway School has provided hands-on, technologically advanced programming for students with a variety of special needs for years, but is now expanding its success to include individuals with autism. We offer our learners a lower teacher/student ratio in a suburban setting, and work with our community to provide inclusion situations and peer relationships.
Our team approach to learning will allow families to feel connected with their community, while their loved ones gain independence and self-esteem via our individualized curriculum.
We expose learners with autism to academics, self-help, life-skills, and job sampling activities, while concentrating on communication and socialization. These are two major obstacles that learners with autism face daily.
Each of our classrooms feature Smart Board technology and ipad education in our instruction. This provides our students with state of the art specialized technology training that will eventually lead to transition planning and self sufficiency
For those students with a gift for music we provide a specialized music program which incorporates individualized lessons, digital instruments, MAC G5 Music Studio, vocals, music theory and appreciation. For your budding artists we have a hands-on art studio teaching color theory, fine art, photography, art history and pottery.
We utilize the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis and behavior modification techniques with our students, and provide continuous staff trainings. We provide a clinical department where our state-certified and professionally licensed clinicians offer services such as weekly individualized counseling, weekly therapeutic groups, crisis prevention/intervention, and social skills instruction.
